The Power of Inspiration
The secrets of nature are not only an eternal impulse for scientific knowledge. With an equal force, they can stimulate the imagination of artists. They are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists representing different forms of art. The proof of it are the works of MirosBaw Sadecki who for years has been involved with graphics and photography, using the language of the informel art. The objects of his interests and experiments include real structures of the mineral world, which he transforms into independent, abstract beings, described by the lens. Inclusions frozen inside the crystals, locked in surprising combinations of forms, lines and surfaces, brightened by the reflexes of light, in artist’s hands become subject of a particular metamorphosis. A model object of the artist’s photographic experiments is a unique rock crystal from the Earth Museum exhibition. It attracts the visitors with its unusual beauty, in particular by the complexity of its inner structure, which includes a generation of beautifully shaped rutile crystals, rightly described by collectors – in a poetic way – the ‘hair of Venus’. Needle-shaped inclusions of rutile crystals, visible through the transparent quartz and saved by the lens frame create intriguing graphic compositions of crossing lines and mysterious structures. Thanks to sophisticated technical operations and innumerable shots of different motives, particular, dynamic pictures are created, transcending into a metaphysical space. Nevertheless, they do not loose grip with the reality of nature and even though they do not have a direct scientific aim, they enter the biggest mystery of a still inscrutable structure of the matter, imperceptible beauty of the rhythms of nature, incessant amazement by the natural world.
The exhibition of MirosBaw Sadecki’s works, presented currently in the Earth Museum, makes a perfect part of the ‘Nature – Art’ exhibition cycle. It touches the least known dimensions of imagination seeing the impulses of nature from a different perspective. The expressivity of the photographic images of M. Sadecki, created in the convention of poetic visions, catches our attention and compels to a personal reflection on the inspiring power of the forces of nature.
